Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok have banned influencer and former professional kickboxer Andrew Tate for his misogynistic comments.
Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, Meta, confirmed that Tate had been banned from using their services for breaking their rules against hate speech and potentially harmful people and organizations. Before Meta deleted his official Instagram account, Tate had 4.7 million followers.
TikTok has also permanently suspended his account. The reason for this suspension, according to a representative of TikTok was:
“Misogyny is a vile ideology that is not permitted on TikTok.”
The representative further said that as we continue to delete violative accounts and videos and pursue methods to strengthen our enforcement, including our detection models, against this type of content, our investigation into this content is ongoing.

Tate gained popularity online after being fired from Big Brother in 2016 after a video surfaced showing him reportedly assaulting a lady. According to the news, Tate called the footage “a blatant fake” that was altered to make him look terrible. The influencer was permanently banned from Twitter in 2017 after posting that sexual assault victims share some blame.
YouTube also banned Tate-related channels, including the popular TateSpeech channel, which has over 744,000 subscribers. Ivy Choi, a representative for YouTube, said on Monday that the company “removed channels affiliated with Andrew Tate for several violations of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, including our hate speech policy.” The uploader is not permitted to use, own, or create any further YouTube channels after a channel has been terminated.

YouTube also warned that it might take down the content if it discovers another channel reposting films from a previously blocked channel. YouTube may also delete the channel if it only serves to re-post content from prohibited channels.
The restrictions come in response to an online movement to deplatform Tate, whose influence on his following, which is predominantly young people, has raised rising concerns among parents and educators.
Tate responded to NBC News’ request for comment regarding his suspension from Instagram and Facebook with an email statement on Monday. Tate said”
“It is very unfortunate that old videos of me, where I was playing a comedic character, have been taken out of context and amplified to the point where people believe absolutely false narratives about me”
