Back in 2012, on the same date as today, 14 of January, Pakistan’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Karim Randhawa died at a young age of 16 years.
Today, the people of Pakistan remembered the young computer scientist who, in 2004, at the age of nine, became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
Arfa gained the title of Microsoft engineer at the age of only 9 years and became the pleasure and pride of Pakistan. While the owner of Microsoft Company Bill Gates has also certified and qualified her.
She represented Pakistan on various worldwide forums, making her family and close relatives proud and overconfident of her absolute achievements in such a small age.
In November 2006, Arfa graced with her presence the Tech-Ed Developers discussion themed Get ahead of the game held in Barcelona on an incitement from Microsoft. She was the only Pakistani among over 5000 developers at that conference.
Even in such a small period of existence, she piled up uncountable achievements. She also time-honored the Pride of Performance award from the Government of Pakistan.
On August 2, 2005, she became the youngest individual to obtain a first flight certificate from Dubai Flying Club. A science park in Lahore, the Arfa Software Technology Park, was named after her.
Arfa had her name in Guinness Book of World Records; she kept the title until 2008.
Arfa was full of life and astonishing sparkling but regrettably we lost this precious stone almost immediately.
In his memorandum on the anniversary of Arfa Karim, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that Arfa Karim was a representation of audacity and assurance and a glimmer of expectation for the youth.
He said that the Punjab government was advancing her assignment of encouragement of IT and several steps have been taken in this regard.

Arfa Karim was born in the Village of Faisalabad (Chak No. 4JB Ram Dewali), Punjab. She was born in 1995 in Jatt Randhawa family. Her father Amjad Karim Randhawa is the retired army officer. She started going to school just at the age of 3 and by the age of 9 she stirred the world’s attention by passing the Microsoft certificated professional. She was invited by Bill Gates to receive the certificate and to enjoy the breakfast with him.

Arfa Karim suffered the cardiac arrest attack in Lahore on January 14, 2012. She was doing a project of NASA at home when she suffered the epilepsy attach and was taken to the CMH Lahore. Unfortunatley, she also suffered the cardiac attack which severely damage her brain and she was in the state of coma. She remained in Coma for 26 days and died on 14 January, 2012.
Previously know as Software Technology Park of Lahore, has been named as Arfa Software Technology Park by the ex-Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif in recognition of her achievements. This park was built in 2009 and the building of this park consists of 17 floors and it is 106 meters tall.
