President Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement Altaf Ahmed Bhat in a statement here in Islamabad today has rejected and denounced the amendment to the Control of Building Operations Act, 1988 and the Jammu & Kashmir Development Act, 1970, which will be used to notifying any areas in J&K as “strategic areas” where the Indian armed forces can carry out unhindered constructions and other related activities etc they deem needful through a special dispensation.
Bhat asserted that the land on which existing camps/ cantonments of the Indian armed forces located in various areas (which are notified as strategic areas) or where new camps/ cantonments they think is important would be acquired. While The constructions that are carried out would be permanent. Furthermore, There would be residential blocks for the troops and their families (Till now only a few camps are family stations). Many camps currently are based in private properties like orchards, houses, state government properties and thus temporary.
President JKSM Bhat lamented that Now An entire area can be designated as a strategic area which can be taken over and developed for the use of armed forces and their families etc.
The J&K administration has also accorded sanction to the proposal of the Housing & Urban Development Department for adoption and notification of J&K Housing, Affordable Housing, Slum Redevelopment and Rehabilitation and Township Policy, 2020. The target of this new policy is to come up with 200,000 houses.
The statement further informed that The J&K administration has set an initial target to construct one lac dwelling units over the next 5 years. According to an official statement, the policy envisages seven models of housing, ranging from “in-situ slum redevelopment to the integrated township. These dwellings and townships, as per the new policy, will be built through a public-private partnership which means housing construction companies and private builders will be contracting for this. There will also be a scheme for rentals housing “in which EWS families will be given dwelling unit on license basis for occupation and use for a particular period on making an initial deposit and monthly charges”.
Bhat said that it is the manifestation of the goals set by the decisions of August 5, 2019, by Modi, Amit Shah, & Ajit Doval, which will have far-reaching consequences.
Despite the International Media continuously publishing the atrocities and inhuman torture upon Kashmiris, Hundreds of Youth Killed in fake CASO’s, hundreds of houses worth millions demolished, the start of demographic alteration, clear violations of International humanitarian law and Int’l law, yet the world is silence, the International organizations are not taking any practical steps. Its high time World must stop double standards and put pressure on India to stop atrocities, oppression and Human Rights violations in IOJ&K, and withdraw its troops and start the process of the plebiscite.
