Early life of Krystal Jung

Krystal was born on October 24, 1994 as Chrystal Soo Jung in San Francisco where her parents migrated from South Korea in the 1980s. She holds dual citizenship of both South Korea and the US.
In early 2000, while their trip to South Korea, she and her sister Jessica Jung were recognized by talent agency “S.M Entertainment”, which brought her the character of part appearance in the Shinhwa’s music video of “Wedding March”. Krystal and Jessica were offered singing and dancing lessons by the company so that they could be professionally trained. But the offer was turned down by her parents, who said that Krystal was too young for music. However, Jessica was allowed to join the agency.
In 2002, Krystal was firstly seen in television commercials doing acting for different products of South Korea. Her first commercial was of “Lotte” in which she was filmed with South Korean actress Han Ga-in.

Seeing her talent, her parents agreed her to join S.M Entertainment so she could start her profession. Later on, after her joining, the agency singed her in the dance classes. Before debuting as a part of f(x) in 2009, she was trained for 3 years, which later on helped her to be a central part of her music group.
Education of Krystal Jung
Before starting her profession, she decided to complete her education. She was weak in South Korean language Hangul at the beginning so her parents migrated back to South Korea in order to teach Krystal Korean culture. After coming back to her native country, Krystal got admission in Korean Kent Foreign School. After her early education, she graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School on February 7, 2013. She was awarded an achievement award on her excellent performance. Right now, she is attending Sungkyunkwan University from where she is majoring in theatre to make her performance go beyond the limits.
Krystal Jung Career (Beginning 2009 to 2013)
In 2009, Krystal debuted in the South Korean girl music group “f(x)” as a lead vocalist.
In 2010, her solo hit song “Melody” was released under the “Melody Project” in which she was seen as a student in love with her teacher. Later on, she became the host of the music show “The M-Wave. In July the same year, the stunning singer debuted as an actress with a minor role in the long running sitcom “More Charming by the Day”. In recognition of her performance in this role, she received the “Newcomer Comedy Award” at the 2010 MBC Entertainment Awards. The next year, in In 2011, Krystal won first place in SBS’s figure-skating show “Kiss & Cry”.
Krystal also performed in the sitcom “High Kick 3” in which she acted as a superficial and shallow girl void of depth of feelings.
The next role Krystal performed was that of a spoiled yet kind-hearted wealthy high school student which she performed in the SBS drama “The Heirs” aired in 2013. This role won the hearts of her fans and she was declared as the “Best Onscreen Couple” along with CNBLUE’s Kang Min-Hyuk at the 2013 Drama Fever Awards.
Krystal was also cast as the first K-pop celebrity to act as a “Goddess of Beauty” in the K-drama series Bride of the Water God. Fans praised her role as a chic, gorgeous goddess.

In 2009, Krystal Jung and her group f(x) unconfined their first single girl song, “La Cha Ta”. According to S.M. Entertainment, this was her first stage performance. However, with only one try, she won over millions of fans from all over the world, not only for her great performance but also for her eye-catching features.

Krystal’s beauty has been appreciated internationally. While shooting a K-entertainment programme f(x) Koala in Japan, in 2010, Krystal was “road-casted” by Japanese TV producers who didn’t recognize her as a celebrity, but were struck by her look while she was casually walking down the street. Although ultimately Krystal rejected the role, the spontaneous casting, based on her looks alone, surely demonstrates her striking beauty.

After attending Seoul’s Korea Kent Foreign School, Krystal’s fluency in both languages has helped her connect with fans worldwide. And it is not just English that Krystal excels at academically. She currently attends Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), one of Korea’s best universities, where she majors in Performance Arts (Acting) and is currently taking a gap year due to her celebrity career.
