Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar, is under fire of rape accusations by an American woman
Kathryn Mayorga who claims that Ronaldo raped her in a hotel room in Las Vegas in 2009.
Ronaldo dismissed the accusation through an Instagram vieo as a “fake news”. According to him, people want to promote [themselves] by [using] my name. It’s normal.”
The report was published in a German magazine Der Spiegel and the lawyers of Ronaldo say they will sue the magazine and seek compensation for “moral damages”

According to Ronaldo’s lawyer Christian Schertz, “the reporting in Spiegel is blatantly illegal”. He further added that it is “probably one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years” and he has been instructed to sue the magazine for compensation.
On the other hand, the report published in the magazine says that Ms Mayorga, 34 filed a rape report in police station after the rape incident. In 2010, she reached an out-of-court settlement with Ronald involving $375,000 and agreed never to go public with the allegations. Now her lawyers are trying to declare the non-disclosure agreement void.
